The joy of volunteering

Dear Sandeep

On behalf of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation and National Award Authorities around the world, I write to thank you for your volunteering services over the past commitment you have shown to advancing the IAYP India and the International Award Association over the past three years as India's Honorary National Director.

You leave an important legacy in this year of the IAYP India's 50th anniversary. You have successfully captured the support of Awardees and young people through the development of the Gold Award Holders Society. You have developed a highly effective internship programme. You have introduced the innovative YES Centre model. You have grown the organisation's partnerships, capacity building capability and communications programme. You should be proud of your achievements because they put in place a solid foundation for the future development of the Award in India.

You have also played an important role in the life of the Award worldwide, through your membership of the International Council. Your support for the objectives of the One Award Alliance project and your enthusiasm for bringing the Award Programme to many more young people, regardless of educational background or financial means, have set an example for us all to follow.

Thank you, once again, for your kind hospitality on my recent visit to India, where I was able to see the impact of the Award first-hand.

Wishing you and your family all the very best for the future,

Yours sincerely

John
